Selby Dickinson – Ceramics
Selby was first introduced to the world of ceramics when he undertook an apprenticeship in a studio pottery on the Wirral. This was followed by studying for a ceramics degree in Stoke On Trent.
Whilst running his first studio in Cambridgeshire he began teaching pottery to various community groups, which ultimately led to teaching ceramics in further education and adult learning.
Selby’s work is all made on the wheel and a lot of his colour pallet involves using coloured slips and engobes.
“My early inspiration came from ceramicists Lucy Rea and Hans Coper although I continue to be inspired by many other forms of art and contemporary design”
His great passion is inspiring others to take up pottery making through his teaching.
