The Courtyard Gallery
The gallery is run as a Community Interest Company (CIC) and is a vibrant community arts space, putting you in touch with local artists and local arts resources. The gallery exhibits the work of twenty local artists who take turns in stewarding the gallery, and offer both a friendly welcome as well as information about the artists and their processes.
You will find a wide selection of affordable local creative work here, from artist-made cards and gifts to original contemporary art for your home and garden.
Are you an artist looking for somewhere to work? Or perhaps you are looking for a prime location from which to run your own workshops?
The Courtyard Gallery has expanded and is now offering studio spaces in the unit adjacent to the gallery at a daily rate of £10 or a weekly rate of £60.
Also for hire is a space for running your own creative workshops: £12 per hour.
For further information on either of these opportunities, contact firstname.lastname@example.org

'Stitched Textile Landscapes'
Sat 27 April, Sun 26 May, Mon 24 June
In this fun one-day workshop you will use a range of materials and techniques to create your own frameable textiles landscape. No previous experience or sewing machines required - just enthusiasm.
'Images in Felt'
Mon 27 May
Jacqui will be teaching the technique of wet felting whilst incorporating threads, silks and other fabrics into the process. Wet felting is great fun to do and you don't need any previous experience. Jacqui will guide you from start to finish and help you to produce a panel of textured felt with the design and colours of your choice. You will be using pre-carded Merino wool as a base for your artwork. This is a wonderful wool to use and felts exceptionally well. Other interesting fabrics can then be laid within the fibres and felted together.
Once you are happy with your design, the fibres are matted together by using hot soapy water and a bit of elbow grease! A little rubbing and rolling will mesh the fibres together. If you like making pastry, you will love this! Watch the felt appear before your eyes.
Jacqui will be teaching the technique of 3D wet felting whilst incorporating threads, silks and other fabrics into the process. You will be guided from start to finish to make a small vessel/bowl with the design and colours of your choice. We will be using pre-carded Merino wool and woolly batts as a base as these types of wool work well together to make robust 3D shapes.
Once your design is complete, the fibres are matted together round a relief or a large dome shape and hot soapy water is then poured over the wool. A slightly different technique to flat felting in that the wool is worked together whilst keeping its shape around the dome or relief.
All materials will be provided, but if you have any interesting threads that you would like to incorporate please bring them along. Previous experience of felting would be an advantage but is not essential.
